Default Help me buy something

So I have $23000 to buy a used truck . People say go with 06 / 07 Lbz . Now I’ve been looking for one with low miles but it’s over that 23 mark . Do I just go with 07.5 and newer or ????? This will be my first Duramax . Not towing much just a small dump load now and then .,.. thanks

Any of the DMax that hasn't been tuned, rodded, or space shuttle miles should give you decent service. I have a Cummins but know others that run the GM and have had very little trouble with them. When I say find a stock truck, the reason is the Allison trans has to be upgraded to avoid clutch pack slippage due to the added torque, and without having this done the transmission is suspect. The only reason I bought the Ram was for pulling, as nothing pulls like the 6 cyl Cummins in a pickup. I like the GM interiors better than Ram but I needed a truck for pulling a camper. That isn't to say the DMax won't get the job done but they won't pull a heavier trailer over the Rockies as easily.
