Default 1/2 tank no run, fuel problem

I would appreciate any and all help with my truck. It is a 1999 ram 2500 24v cummins. It has 87000 miles on it with no mods at all. I bought it from the original owner. The problem is at between 1/2 and 3/8 tank of fuel the truck just shuts off. I can put in less than a gallon of fuel and truck fires right back up until that gallon or less is gone, then it shuts right off. Here is what I have done so far: sending unit with the LP pump has been replaced and verified that it is working. The lift pump has been replaced and I do hear it working (I could hear the old pump working also) I replaced the relays ( fuel pump and ASD) But the old ones do check out as still being good. Just because I was in the area I also replaced the overflow valve on the 44n. Fuel feed and return lines have been blown out and no leaks have been found. I should also say that I think it has had this problem as when I pulled the sending unit someone had removed the LP pump from the sending unit. Any suggestions would be helpful, I am ready to try anything! Thx.

I am stunned! I would have said the pickup on the in tank pump has an issue, but since you have replaced the pump once It would be insanity to believe another pump would help. I think if the truck were mine I would just keep it over the 1/2 tank mark on the fuel indicator or get a good diesel mechanic that has experience with some of these to sort this out. Are you sure there is fuel in the tank after it dies? Can you see if anyone has done anything to the tank, as in partially collapsed? The truck is running out of fuel, but I don't have any idea why, sorry. You may have to replace the fuel tank, and that might be cheaper than having a tech spend valuable time messing with it.

I realize this thread is a couple weeks old but read on another forum that someone had to have the fuel rail and pressure regulator replaced to fix this problem. Hope you are keeping tabs on this.
