Default 2005 Cummins tranny trouble please help

I have a 2005 2500 auto 4x4 Cummins, I just bought truck in December and starting having the well known shuttle shift problem. I ordered a Borg gov pressure sensor and transducer, new filter and MOPAR tranny fluid. While pan was off I adjusted the bands and reinstalled the pan and fluid. The outer band adjustment is now pretty much flush with the locking nut. I took it for a drive and drove great fixed the shuttle shift. Now a week later it seems like in 1st gear its slipping, once in 2nd and so on it moves right along. Truck has 250k on it with no tuner please help me????

How'd the fluid look? Did you do the transducer also? Fluid level full when in neutral? That's a hell of a run even on a stock unit!

Yeah that's the plastic one right? And the fluid was nasty to be honest.i checked yesterday and it was low so I added but this morning on way to work it was a mix of decent starts in 1st and then next light would slip or lag into gear

Yea it's the other one that almost looks like an inhaler I think. It sits right next to the gov. Solenoid. I would double check your fluid again, it's better to have it slightly over full than under. If the fluid was nasty often times the new fluid added will hurt more than help since the new fluid will knock a bunch of crap loose from inside there. If your fluid is topped off and still having and issue then I would start looking into a rebuild!

Do u have any suggestions as to having mine rebuilt? I tow but not often,my truck is mostly stock other then afe intake horn and afe cold air intake, and 5" exhaust no tuner. I have been thinking about a tuner but don't know what to get. I'm just unsure as to what to have done when it gets rebuilt

There are a million different opinions/threads on rebuild options. If you tow often and or want to put some more power down then build accordingly. I would at least recommend doing a quality single disc tc, valve body, and heavy duty internals. Goerend is a great source for parts. I personally went to a local shop who was expierenced at building and did a triple disc with billet shafts/internals that can handle my 6oo hp goal.

Shop around and do do your research so you get the best warranty, parts, and installer for your location.

Tuning you could go with smarty jr/sr or HP tuning which is more of a custom tune like EFI for newer trucks. Do you have a power goal or just want reliability for towing?

I'd say if I built it to handle 5-600 that would be my long term goal. I have a 2001 Cummins and the tranny is built with redline and it's a very strong tranny now, I run the edge comp hot box on that and the shifts will throw u back. Should I use all same make parts? Or like bd valve body,tq con I'm not sure on and so forth. I really have no good diesel shops nor any tranny shops other then your average run of the mill ones so I'd have to know exactly what I want to do before I approach a place. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated I don't know much about internal tranny parts. Thank u

I would say do at least the single disc, triple disc if you like the firmer shifts. Billet input shaft, vb, and the hd clutch pack. If you have the money I would really recommend going with Goerends parts since he has a valve body made in house and uses the GM conversion for solenoids. I am satisfied with my purchase doing a local deal but would buy from him if I had to do it again. If you want a different brand Fire punk (west coast) is supposed to be good along with RevMax (NC). I would stay away from ATS as I read several horror stories when shopping for mine 6 months ago. If your in mid/s tx I can recommend some shops
