Default P0148

The infamous death code strikes! I've had my '05 for two months now. Put 4K on it and have done the following to it maintenance wise: oil and filter, AFE fuel filter 1k miles ago, cleaned air filter, regular additives for the cold. Pulled a check engine light 3 times since I've owned it. First time code was P0148 but check engine light was only sign, no loss of power. Light only on for 10-15 minutes, no power loss or smoking. Second time was cold day-stayed on for 2 days but only intermittent power loss. Ran Diesel911 and no issues after an hour or so. This last time was on 700 mile trip and got instant power loss when light came on. Air temp was 23'. Every time I am unloaded, no other codes except for air intake heater but that is gone (aftermarket intake). Taking it in to shop tomorrow but with my luck the code will go out again. Guy wasn't in today to look at it. No smoke, shudder or bucking, just power loss. Checking oil again tomorrow too. No diesel smell in oil last check but was a half quart high on scale-I didn't change oil so tomorrow will be a comparison day. Truck has 148k on it now.

Have injectors been done recently? Regardless I bet it's a loose connector tube- re-torque tubes and you should be good- that's what mine was. If not that it's either FCA or railpressure sensor. FCA is more likely than RP sensor. If you have a RP gauge it'll help with diagnosis!

Took to mechanic and now I have a P0299, found a blown intercooler seal on plastic tank, so new cooler on the way. Maybe the loss of boost tripped the P0148?

Could be related- P0148 is generic fuel code. I suppose if you weren't making boost due to blown intercooler then it would think it's over fueling and throw the code. Erase it and see if it comes back

Update. Grabbed from mechanic. Went awesome. Black smoke at WOT gone, more power and quieter. Got an aftermarket Mishimoto intercooler put on. On the way back (10 miles) pulled a CAC P0234 for overboost. Not being the original owner I'm wondering if maybe there is a program loaded on the PCM. Can going from a massive CAC leak (5" of the O ring blew out) to being sealed trip this? No limp mode yet, but I have a 150 mile unloaded trip in am. Trying to find original owner (bought truck from used dealer but I have her name and address) to verify but could use advice. Thanks!
