Did a engine swap put a 2001 5.9 Cummins in a 1999 dodge 2500 . in 2000 they eliminated the crank trigger. can't use the original computer harness and Sensors and with the 01 equipment it runs in limp mode.need help.can u add a external crank trigger and will that work with the 2001 camshaft.

 

Is the engine block still tapped on the left side for a crank sensor. I thought that 1998.5 through 2001 were all the same style block castings. Makes me wonder if the crank would still have a sensor wheel on it.

 

Yes the block is the same but there is no harmonic wheel on the crank. The came sensor is in a different location and I hear the sensors are a different voltage.
