I found this tech article, and it looks like a person has to drop the oil pan?

Glad you asked! Two screws thru the metal part of the old seal pull the seal out clean the crank NO OIL! Install dry! if you have a groove worn in the crank put a sleeve over it otherwise just the seal install with installation tool and your done!
