Default Injector broke in head

i was replacing my return lines and decided to pull the injectors to do the o rings and copper washers while i was at it, when i pulled the rear drivers side (closest to firewall) only half of it came out. got the spring, shims, nozzle, etc out but the "barrel" piece is stuck in there. tried getting it out with a pick but it seems to be pretty seized up in there. anybody ever had this problem and found a way to get it out? or should i just pull the head and go from there? any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might try to use an Ezout (screw extractor) you drill then turn the easy out in to the hole and if everything goes ok you should be able to get it out! Be sure to spray plenty of Penetrating oil on it Baring that you will have to drill it out you can try a reverse twist drill bit and use your drill in reverse it just might catch and take the injector out.

i think i have a way to get it out. i can grind off the threads on an old injector that screw the injector into the head. then stick the injector down in there, screw it into the barrel, and then yank on it. should probably work.

That is how most people do it. I had two injectors come apart like that on me last time I changed mine. The barrel split on one while I was trying to get it out. I would soak them in carb cleaner as well, it does really good at dissolving the soot that is locking them in place. After you get them out, crank the engine over with the injectors still out to blow out any starting fluid that may have leaking into the cylinder. I also made a puller that I attached to a slide hammer to help remove them. It was one of those chain links with a threaded section. I cut the bottom off and the threaded part screwed on to the injector. I then hooked it with the chain on a slide hammer and pulled it out.
