Default 05 F250 6.0 to 12 valve Cummins

I have a 05 F250 6.0 auto 4x4 I would like to change to a non computerized cummins with Alison auto I have been looking at some engine and trans out of school bus has anyone done this? can u adapt the transfercase to this type Allison or go with a divorced transfercase? the truck is extended cab short bed my goal is a reliable diesel truck that can be reasonably worked on any help appreciated.

First thing is to check with your state on the smog requirements on it, that might put the kabosch on it.

Many of those MDT allisons do not have overdrive. Do your homework.

I would go with a married setup for your rig because of the shorter wheelbase. Harvest a 6BT and 47RH/NP241 from a 2nd-gen Dodge and build the trans. Manual trans is always an option too... the Ford ZF can be adapted, and you keep your tcase.

So a 94-98 will be my best bet for a donor? Are they electronic free? I would like to stay with auto in this I would like a dependable simple truck I have had it with these newer diesels I have had a few of each brand it is always something wrong with them injector sensors something etc I had a 93 cummins new it just ran no problems with motor but truck fell apart.

Try and get a 96 -98 they are the 180hp ones and stay away from the cali trucks with the egr crap. you will only need a lock up switch for the o/d and converter lock up easy to do. you will need to put an external voltage regulator on the alt as it is controlled by the ecm on the dodge but again cheap and easy. if you use as much from the dodge as possible it is a pretty easy swap.
