Default help a td ignorant guy

so i finally got the truck on the road after dropping my entire paycheck and then some on the insurance that i had to pay 2 months up front and the taxes the previous owner never paid, but anywho now that its on the road im finally starting to be able to drive it over 40 and find things wrong with it that i have no clue how to fix because im an ignoramus. but anyway when im driving i have great power from half throttle and before, but anything past that i get heavy black smoke and almost feels like i lose power past half throttle, i just kinda had a hunch on it being the turbo.. just because you cant hear it when im driving.. dont know if youre supposed to or not, but like i said im an ignoramus. but i saw that the little lever and linkages on the side , which i think is the wastegate from what ive read, arent working when the engine is revved. though the turbo is spinning. and its got junk in the turbo, looks like burnt oil from a pcv, so coulod it be clogged?

i know guys like me who dont know jack diddly squiddly about squat get kinda aggravating, but any help is appreciated guys, thanks in advance

Not sure what your issue is but if you find out you need a turbo i have one for sale with only 50,000 miles on it

The waste gate is closed by vacuum. The solenoid shuts vacuum off to let the waste gate open. Start the truck up and see if the waste gate is closing. The arm on the side of the turbo should not be easy to move. If it moves you have to follow the vacuum lines back and see where you lose vacuum. If it has factory exhaust on it you could have a clogged cat.

Have it scanned for trouble codes so you also have a good place to start from, but as mentioned the vac lines rot,vac pumps fail, boost solenoids fail and wastegate actuators can develop holes in the diaphragm.
