Hay y'all.. I just got a 95 GMC 2500 with a 6.5 a few weeks ago. The previous owner has the PMD relocated into the cabin under the dashboard straped to a heatsink with a fan on it. This seems like a great spot for it to me.. I've read about some people putting it on top of the manifold or even in the bumper but not in the cabin. Is this just because it is simpler than routing the wires through the fire wall or is there any length restriction on the wiring harness for the PMD?

 

Hello. Im new myself. have read alot but never got around to registering till lately. I havent heard of a length limit but most Ive seen is 6 ft.
the fan is good inside the cab as there wont be nearly as much air movement in there.

I would think it would work but those hot summer days with the windows up will probably be hard on it. Or then again it might work great. Id run it and see how it does myself

 

The biggest reason not to mount inside the cab is temp swings as stated.

In summer AC can cool it well but once parked in hot climates with no more air circulation can cause issue,conversely in winter the swing to very cold is also harmful.

I prefer out under/behind the frt bumper so that the temps stay at or very near outside temps at all times-connections won't fatigue as fast when they don't expand or contract very much.
