Default Tired 05? Weird symptoms

Hey guys, New to posting but been a creeper of the forum for a while. Down to business. I have an 05 with 165k miles on it. Ever since I got the truck it's been a kinda slug off the launch. I bought a ppe standard tuner, put a 5" diamond eye exhaust, s&b intake and that's bout it. Still a slug off the line no matter what setting I'm in. If I'm rolling at 40mph 2000rpm and stab it, it will hesitate really bad almost fall on its face then take off. Is this normal or does it have issues? Basically the only reason I've come here and asked is because I was riding in a buddies 08 dmax and he stomped it, and it blew me away how snappy and responsive it was. His can boil the tires of the line, mine can't do that even in the top setting on my tuner.
Thanks
Sorry for the long post

1st thing I would check is to see if there any boost leaks.
Does ppe add any timing ? need timing.

would almost indicate fuel issue or timing .. how does it respond @ higher speeds ? like say 70 to like 80 stomp on it ...

If its an auto ... could be sticking in Lock up or shifting too soon ...
