i just bought a 98 a couple weeks ago ran fine till last week and the check engine light came on and it started idling funny and it has no power me and the guy i bought it from re wired the map sensor where the wires were corroded and it fixed it till yesterday and its back to the same thing again the gauges will work for a little bit after i start the truck and then they will quit working and the odometer will start flashing its putting out p1693 and p0237 low map voltage but its gutless and the guy i got the truck from says its the crankshaft position sensor but its not throwing a code up anyone know what could be going on any help would surly help thanks

 

alternator wiring issue can cause all kinds of issues like that ... and of course MAP wiring might not be just the only issue @ that wiring circut ..

 

man....check engine light on a 12v....i dont believe i have even ever seen the check engine light come on in a 12 valve!

 

Oh yeah ... Crank sensor ... That would do it ... Possibly
