high mileage?
I have the opportunity to buy 95 12v dually from my cousins friend. The only problem with it is tat the tail lghts dont work. he thinks its a bad connection. But my only thing is is that it has 420,000 miles on it. Now would this be a bad ting? i know ive heard the 12v as being the million mile motor but is this actually true? what are some problems i could run into down the road? Hes only askin 4k fr it btw
420k is high, sure, but if it runs and drives and doesn't have excessive blow by, I'd jump all over it for four grand.
I imagine it leaks oil, needs a valve adjustment and rattles like a can full of BBs, but I'd bet there's still crosshatching in the cylinders, assuming he does his maintenance.

I just paid $4500 for the '96 2500 4wd I'm working on for us to put a camper in the back of to head to Alaska (from Ontario)...it has 421,000 kms on it. Very hard to find a regular cab / 8' box / 4wd around here (needed that for the 2 ton camper), looked for about a year and couldn't even find a 2wd for that money, all the trucks seem to have about the same mileage. I think anything under 5 grand for a 12v is a bargain. This one however, leaks from EVERYWHERE!
