Ok, so im going to buy a roof rack and run 4 hid 55watt lights on top. My question is do I need to buy a alternator that powers more or will my original be ok. By the way I have 2 brand new pacific power hd batteries and cables since my old ones were no good. If I do need a higher output alternator does anyone know where to buy one. Or should I take my original alternator and have it rewound for more output.

 

I would get a high output alternator just for the peace of mind. Not saying it's needed, but definitely would not hurt anything

 

Yeah I was thinking the same. I saw some online, but there for powerstokes. Do you know where I can buy one because I haven't found any except oem.

You could add a second alt, if you wanted to, or even add a third battery. I would more than likely use dual-alts. Modifying these to higher amperage is not a DIY job that I'm ready for yet
