My turbo on my truck gas a bent fin, was wondering if I 2nd gen turbo would bolt up, or should I just rebuild mine?

Thats a super duty, we dont refer to them as gens like the dodges.

But no they will not fit, the mount on the obs is a T3 and the mount on the 99.5-03 SD is what they refer to as the babies butt

 

Does any one know of a cheap replacement turbo? Called to get mine rebuilt and was told 800-1000

 

D66 is an upgraded one, think its 1100. Or find a used one, I sold mine for 150 I think

 

OK, its just my work truck and don't want to spend that much on it, I have a h2e but I think it will blow my e4 of to pieces with the turbo injectors and custom tunes for a manual trans truck

 

Didn't catch what you meant on the H2E... The adapter to fit on an OBS would be more than a replacement turbo..

A used rebuild TP-38 can be had for $500 to $600. A rebuilt with a 360 degree upgrade bushing kit and an upgrade comp wheel around $800. With a better turbine wheel, around $1000-$1100.

But if you are handy... They are easy to rebuild and/or upgrade (I do it). You can pick up an upgrade compressor wheel for between $80 to $225, depending on what you want. And you really get what you pay for. My preference and likes are for one about $215 (from Riffraff).

An upgrade/rebuild kit will run you $105 to $130, that includes all the o-rings, seals, bearings, thrust washer an 4 new bolts. I mix and match to get the o-rings I prefer.

Mine? Latest one? I have 2 turbos. One and a spare. The one on it now has about $600 (my cost) in new hard parts in it (without my labor).

So if it doesn't leak and you think you just need a wheel, and you did the work yourself, you could go at probably just a WWI wheel and a compressor housing o-ring and get by for around $125...

What do I think about that? First, if I tear into something, I figure I might as well rebuild it and be in there once. If I don't I'm real upset if I tear into something and 4 moths later, I have to tear into again for another reason. Second is you said you have a bent fin... Do you know what the strike was from? What is hit to get bent? If it had a working air filtration system... there would not have been a strike... maybe dust from inadequate filtration, but for a strike to happen... That's my seocnd things to try to do something just once... If I fix something, I'm going to fix whatever caused it to break... or you will be working on that again = protect your investment.
