Default ether questions

My truck won't start again. Always when its real cold. I know its not a good thing, but should I try ether? Just a small shot to see if it fires, and where exactly should I squirt it. I've heard bad stuff and I really don't wana do it but I've read others doing it with no problems in a very small amount.

Make sure if you do that you remove the grid heater relay feed wires from the battery! My recommendation would be start by testing battery voltage to get an idea of their condition, next verify you have adequate cranking speed, if you do verify you have fuel. Cold weather isn't to big of a hurdle if we take the proper steps to prevent starting troubles.
I'm also curious about what type of temps your seeing. Had a few come in and call for no starts today with 6am temps at -6f!

It's still 12 here, 2 small squirts of ether and it fired right up. I need to test my grid heater, relays I guess. Its been no start these last 3 times its dropped in the single digits, except this time.

what is your idle speed? do you have to give it a little pedal to get her to go? if so bring the start fuel up just a bit. my 95 hadn't ran in a week parked in the field, 0* 2 days ago, two cycles with the grid heater and lethargically through the molasses like oil fired right up.

my 97 started this morning at 3 degrees on the first try. I was told that if you were going to use ether you should crank until the oil pressure comes up then it is safe. I also know a guy who blew his air box off and knocked the cap off his coolant tank on his 06 by using ether through the air box.

Mine has been starting fine on the the second try all week, 5 below every morning. I haven't been plugging it in either, since I shorted out the block heater last year
Still, 12 degrees should be no problem unless something else is wrong. Or you have it timed to the moon...
