Default Motor sounds loud

Got the 2004.5 Dodge cummins, Not sure if its me going crazy or if it is louder. I start it and it just seems loud. sounds like there is more of a nock? Also I have a tuner the Banks Iq with six gun what stage do yall recomend to run a tuner on 2or3 never been into 4to6 but its on the fly and I bounce from 2 and 3 should I just keep it on one or the other? thanks for any input.

Guess I will ask this as well. What is a good boost,EGT,tranny temp?
I can hit 40psi boost
EGT have hit 1300
and tranny stays around 170ish

Probably looking at a injector issue. Has it been re flashed recently?
Make sure you don't have fuel diluted oil before continuing. Next look at doing a injector return test. This will rule out a fuel related knock/engine noise and allow us to direct you towards the next step.

It would be a software update likely from Chrysler. If you go in for service it would have this done.

I just bought the truck as is from privet party. Six gun banks kit was already on board never had the truck to the dealer. I have been doing a little more research and been reading about the #4 injector? I will start there. Also if I push my throttle down five times turn key to on not starting the truck that clears my turner to resat i think I might have the sequence wrong. Thanks for your help I need it!

There's no particular injector that gives trouble, eventually they all do. I would be consider removing all the mods, getting a re flash and return flow test at the dealer before doing much more. If the knock is fairly loud or smoke is present and increasing I'd likely park the truck until the testing was complete!!!

That does not sound good. I have no smoke, How do I go about removing the chip is it as easy as pulling the plug under the dash driver side? or should I leave it all intaked and take it to the shop and let them do it? I was crossing my fingers it would be a DIY shops cost way to much money dang it. But I need my truck healthy. Also what will happen once I get a re flash and hook my chip back up?

Looks like I was hearing things. My truck is 100% okay. diesel machine looked at it and nothing going wrong. had no codes pop up there was some up grades to the ecm Flashed it. truck is up to date on her shots now. They just said with all the mods done to it and with 167k it will sound a little louder. Cost a fresh 20=priceless

The #4 line can be the cause for noise. 167k miles on an original set of injectors is a lot. If you have injector problems in the future we can test them on our common rail bench for $35 each

The noise sounds like its coming from the driver side. Like under the wheel well? I feel a lose of power kind of as well? Also sounds like an exhaust leak. I don't know if I am over thinking this or if there is something going wrong. It just sounds louder to me. Sounds loud at higher RPM as well. Who knows I may be going crazy. I just feel like it was a lot quieter when I bought 3 months ago. Where are you located tho? i am in Oregon
