heres the deal bought an 98 12 valve now the motor is knocking horribly , im picking up an 91 12v.. when I go to put all my injection turbo ect ect on it , do I have to time the pump , any way around timing it if I have to ... never been in to a cummins give me a chevy or 22r Toyota motor I can tell u how everything needs to be set up . any an all info is help full an are the heads the same since ill be adding head studs to what exactly do I gotta mill on the rockers

 

you want the later model head
yes the pump and engine wil have to be timed together no way around it. you gonna time the dist. on your 22r dont ya? same with an IP. they wont run if they arnt set right.

 

So use the head off my truck btw the motor in it now was from a ups truck that the previous owner installed , what's the different from the older an newer 12 valve

 

the older non IC trucks have a 9mm injector holes and are prone to cracking.

 

Ur going to have to change entire front cover to make ur ip work on a 91 motor
