anyone ever converted a v10 with nv4500 trans to a cummins?

Default anyone ever converted a v10 with nv4500 trans to a cummins?

I have a 1994 12v cummins reg. cab with 47re trans. I also have a 1996 v10 ext cab with nv4500 trans. I want to install the 12v motor into the v10 truck and keep the nv4500 trans. Anyone ever done this if so what was all needed. so far I know I'll need a clutch and flywheel and then everything should swap over, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not too sure about the wiring also. I may need a pcm off a 1996-1998 12v. Any info is greatly appreciated

have you checked to see if the input shaft is the same? i know on some of the gas motors the input shaft is 1 1/8th inches and the cummins takes a 1 1/4 inch 10 spline.Advanced adapters has a good amount of information on their website about the differences in the nv 4500 transmissions. What is the weight difference between the cummins and the v10? might possibly have to put heavier springs under it to make it sit right and ride better.Will the throttle cable hook up to the p7100? I have a 94 and a 97, the 94 auto. has an ABS box thing on the fender w/ a vacuum brake booster while the 97 5-speed has a hydro-boost. If your 96 has hydro-boost will the 94 p/s pump hook up to it?

Springs will be the same but u will probably have to change the motor mounts as well as the imput shaft as stated above. And you will have to put a Cummins rated clutch as well. The front clip will all mount up to the Cummins Rad and intercooler and intake and battery holders tho.

There is just a different adapter on the steering pump for the hydro brakes. And you will have to plug the vacuum line on the Cummins that use to operate the brake booster

I would be concerned with the input bearings not being stout enough for the cummins harmonics and torque ....

i beleive the bearing on the input shaft is the same outside diameter for the cummins or the gasser, the only difference is the inside diameter is 1.25 instead of the 1.125 shaft.i have a nv4500 out of a 99 chevy laying in the floor.i was going to swap it into my 94.The local cummins guru told me it wouldn't work.After looking around on the internet i found that after 96 the chevy and dodge trans were the same internally w/ the exception of the chevy 32 spline output shaft as opposed to dodges 29 spline. It also has an 1.125 input shaft. The man told me to take it out and count the teeth on the gear and after doing so i took it and showed him that they had the same number of teeth w/ the gear being the same size and the bearing looks the same od but i didn't mic it.This was just before i moved the shifter to see how everything worked and a spring jumped out followed by the dog it was holding.
