alternater volts please help

Default alternater volts please help

I have a 94 7.3 turbo not the powerstroke . I was driving and I noticed the volt meter droping I got home shut it off of course no start charged it to full charge started and checked vote at alt reads 10 checked at batt 10 so ok I need a new alt charged batts while I went to get a alt came back put the new one on and same thing reads at alt the same as batt like the alt is not working any one have a idea ?

Have you looked into your voltage regulator? Also it's pretty common that a "new" alternator is bad out of the box, but I'd check the regulator before swapping it out once again

my Regulator will CHIT on me every year about 2-3 weeks in to the cold weather ... with out fail for the last 5Yrs. ... not entirely sure why though ... but i have an extra all the time ... alt has gone 2 times in 5 yrs .... 1 vac pump in 5 yrs too ....

not sure wear the regulator is located ?

pass side just behind the starter realay thats on inner fender .... should be on the fender l;iner ... like on top ... lil crome box .. bot 3"X1" or so

So you have an internal voltage regulator? I'd look at my battery cables, grounds and any fusible links between the alternator and the batteries as well. On my truck if I so much as look at my terminals the wrong way it will short out my battery and cause it to drain within the blink of an eye it's also an 8 year old battery
