PMD Failure symptoms
Looks like most people trucks just stall and will not start. Mine acts like its starving for fuel and starts hard...it first strted going up hills but now does it even on flat ground. usually when I hold down the pedal when cranking it over, when its warm it starts up just fine. I replaced the lift pump and the filter, my PMD has not been relocated yet, I am in the process of doing that now. Does this sound like a PMD issue?

Do you know how many miles are on that pmd or that injection pump? Those Injection pumps get 90,000 - 130,000 miles out of them. Not one of stanadynes best products. The most common symptom for the pmd failing is a hard starting hot issues. You could be sucking air into the fuel system some how.

Search "2000 RPM IP test" here or google.
PMD's can fail in several ways-stalling,no start-no hot start and runaway engine.
Air intrusion to the fuel system usually happens between the fuel level in the tank and the LP since that is supposed to be the suction side-any pin holes in the line even inside the tank can cause trouble.
If the LP is dead air can enter anywhere and you will also have increased IP wear.
To detect air intrusion-replace the IP fuel return line with clear diesel rated tubing and with the truck safely parked and running, look for bubbles win the new clear line.
Bubbles in the return line indicate air entry and further diagnosis as to where is in order.
People often overlook the rubber o-ring on the line that enters the LP but the lines exiting the tank are the most common cause.
