I found a 1993 turbo 7.3 idi with 320k miles that the guy will let go for $3000 it is 4 wheel drive and is in great shape besides a dent in the front fender. Opinions will greatly be appriciated.

 

Is there a shop you trust near you that can go over the truck to see if it has any issues.
or are there any maitnance records for the truck and motor?

 

he has no maintenance records and the closest shop i trust is over 2 hours away. All i know from previous experience is most of the idi's were run pretty hard.

 

yeah they do ... I have a 87 .... need to know if its runnign sca coolant .. if not its a no go ..... get the strips and test it with out asking ... if no nitrates show in coolant ... its a problem ... and or negotiate down real fast ..... these engins can suffer from cylinder cavitation .... pits inside cylinder ( on the inside like between coolant and block ) this will shorten its life real quick...... listen or be sorry
