Maintaining 6.2L Diesel
Hey all,
I have a 6.2 diesel conversion in my '83 Heritage RV that hasn't run in months. I was having "water in fuel" issues which is why I believe I can't get it to start, not to mention the three batteries are nearly drained. I am going to buy new batter shut offs and get it towed and have them do whatever it is they need to do to get it running.
After that is where I need help. I don't know ANYTHING about diesels...bought the RV because I had a big paying job and made a 25 year old impulse purchase.
What do I need to do to keep this thing running regularly considering it is only used a few times a year?...and I understand that that isn't good to just let diesels sit like that.
Any advice/help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Letting it sit is not much of a factor-run it every few months to keep some oil coating the top end parts and the oil pump but otherwise keep the batteries charged and that should be good-keeping the fuel tank full when stored is also a good practice.
Before restarting check the air filter every time-rodents like to build nests!
Some sort of fuel conditioner with lubricity additive is also a must-those engines were never meant to run on ULSD.
Marine 0 ash 2 cycle oil at a ratio of 1:200 is also a good fuel lubricity booster.
