Default I have a decision to make...

Hey guys,
I have a big decision to make. I am going to get one of two cars from other family members... It's complicated. I need your opinions on which one to get. Here are my choices:
1. 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext. Cab SLT 4x4 Z71 5.3L V8 with 60,000 Miles.
2. 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI 2.0L I4 Diesel DSG Trans with 16,500 Miles.
The KBB value is within 4,000$ between them. I think the GMC suits me better and I sort of like it better but the VDUB is newer, gets more MPG, etc.
What do you all think I should choose??? Thanks for your responses!

Is it a daily driver? Do you need a truck? I have 2 family members myself with TDI and they love them for their torque and mileage. The new TDI's ( 2009 and newer) do have a slight hesitation when you really stomp the peddle down but besides that they are great cars.
