Having been a Chevy man for many years, when I needed to get a truck to pull my travel trailer, I naturally chose to get a Chevy. Three years ago I purchased a 2003 Chevy 2500 HD with the Duramax/Allison combination. I have been very happy I made the jump to Diesel. My 8700 lb. trailer now goes everywhere I need it to go. I love the extended cab & long box for projects and love the large fuel tank for cross country towing. For mountain driving during hunting season, I don't believe there is a better combination.
