Default Catalytic Converter

Hey fellas, I recently started having problems with my 6.4, it started as Border Patrol was pulling me over due to vechicle matching a discription, I had noticed a power loss when being pulled over as i was passing 2 18 wheelers when he hit his lights an barely made it around the 2nd rig, as i pulled over there was a loud puff sound, and shaking the entire truck coming out of the air intake, I shut off the truck and called for a pickup from our company lowboy 18 wheeler, after fiddling around a few days in the yard with the truck i started it back up and our mechanic approached me and said its my Cat-converter, and we would know if we drilled some holes in the exhaust pipe an it stopped making the noise, so we drilled 2 5/16th holes before the Cat started it back up an let it run approximately 2-3 minutes an it stopped. I had recently drove thru some deep water and the mechanic said hot cat converter and cold water probably shattered it and its plugged up.

I called ford, an obvious mistake, but did, and asked if the catalytic converter can be removed to get me on the road an into town to a real mechanic, They said No it would mess my motor up due to the Regen stuff.

Ive put hundreds of thousands of miles on different trucks on and off road, lots of deep water, lots of mud, lots of snow, Ive never had a catalytic converter do this, if this is the actual cause.

So, in short, will it hurt my engine to remove the cat alone or will it cause damage, im already in the works of a EGR/DPF delete and a tuner.

If your going to Delete EGR/DPF and a tuner your not going to need the cat either.
