Default Catalytic Converter Years???

Have an early '03 2500. Want to know for sure what years did not come with a catalytic converter. Searched all over internet and found replies with a little bit of everything. Does anybody know if the early '03 does or does not have them for sure. Thanks for the help.

I think you are talking about a dodge right?
My 99 had one. I can show you a pick if you like.

Everyone has been saying that it was after the 04.5 years unless California produced.

You are correct. My '04 was built September '03 and it doesn't have a cat.

No cat your year. You had a resonator and muffler.
California SO '03'04's had cats. Federal HO engines outside of California didn't have cats '03,'04. '04.5+ 50 state had cats.

Depends on whether it is a Cali engine, SO engine, or HO engine. Look at the data plate and get the HP rating from it to know for sure.

I wish I could chuck mine. Not a performance issue but on our drive south from the eastern Sierras I could sure feel the heat pumping out of that sucker idling.
Just wish I was tight with a muffler shop where I cold remove/reinstall it every two yrs for smog.
