I was driving home this evening (loaded at 55-65mph) and the overhead comp gave the "Catalyzer Full Service Required" message, starting at 80% andgoing up to 90%. This concerns me as I have removed the DPF and the NOx filters after getting a couple codes as I didnt want them to clog (heard a pressure release when I unbolted the dpf). I have removed everything that could clog except the down pipe which I beleive has two catalytic converters in it.?. The truck has to work tomorrow so I need to know if I keep driving it will I cause damage if the cats are indeed clooging up?

 

Did you get the proper programmer after you removed the dpf to fool the ecu in thinking the dpf is still there?If not,then thats probably why your getting the display saying it's full.At a certain point the ecu will put your motor into a derate mode because the ecu thinks the dpf is full.
And there is no cat convertors in the down pipe, just the doser

 

Smarty jr me gets here tomorrow. The only reason the dpf is off so soon is it was clogging and not self cleaning (I dunno why). I knew the computer would have a hissy fit, but the dpf had to be removed, I didnt know it would be so militant about the subject. Do I need I replace the downpipe to make a dpf delete work? I notice most folks that have done the delete have a turbo back exhuast. I had planned on just making a straight pipe starting at the down pipe with a rear wheel terminus.

 

that message comes on sometimes. you can plug your smarty in and go to dtc read. you prob wont have any codes but clear dtc codes anyway. this should take the overhead off. if it doesnt give me a call. maybe i can help

 

After about 15 miles this morning the cat full message went away, I don't think the truck derated the power. I have to say this truck sounds amazing with not exhaust the thing sounds like an old peterbilt with the sexiest sounding vaccum ever strapped to the engine, that alone is worth the cost of a tunner.

 

Nope,you don't have to remove the down pipe,it can stay on.

 

Thanks for the advice my smarty came in. So the dpf and egr fell off a couple days ago. Everything is running good so far.
