Default 2005 HEAD GASGET

Does anyone know where one could find out how many 04.5-05 diesels have blown head gasgets.
GM says it is extremely rare but coincidentally there was one in the shop when I took mine in.
I have pretty much babied my '05, meticulously maintained it, and lost the head gasget at barely 100K.
I guess GM doesn't think that they are good for any more than 100 as they would not do ANYTHING to help the $4500 dealer repair job. All this after paying extra for the diesel at new and a bumper to bumper that was good for 100K but not 100.1K!
Sad thing is they gave some employees big bonus' this year and I helped bail them out 4 years ago. Now big promos in China,...... so much for apple pie and Chevrolet. Is it time for a Cummins?
All this made me curious just how many have had the problem???????

I lost my HG's, but I wouldn't trade my truck for a dodge, I spent less than a $1000 fixing mine myself, and I put more than $8000 on my dodge for parts other than the engine

Besides with the new HG's my truck is going to as reliable as any cummins out there

Funny you should ask, My water pump started leaking at 230k. I had it changed out and I'll be damned the stupid thing started leaking 40k later... I took it into a shop here in so-cal that is known for their excellent honest work (rated highest for gaskets and rebuilds). Took it to them because of their good rep. They had it out back for a couple of hours and called me and asked if I had ever had the head gaskets replaced. I said, no, the stupid water pump started leaking again and I don't wanna have to replace it a third time. Did you mix up the paperwork??? He said, no we are pretty sure you have a small head gasket leak and it is charging the coolant system with more air (compression) than the system can vent through the radiator cap (degas bottle) that is why we think it is pushing water out of your water pump gasket. I was in shock!!! I know that my '05 powerstroke is infamous for blowing head gaskets but, not my beloved LLY. He then told me that, he was shocked that I was able to get so many miles out of the stock gaskets! (I baby it) He said, most go between 100-125K. Then he explained the problem was the gasket itself. He said, a set of "C" code gaskets would fix the problem and for a few extra dollars headstuds would let me add all the power I could ever want without ever having to do it again.

When I was at gm dealer the majority of head gasket jobs I did were on the lly and newer engines. Ive seen them with any where from 80k to 280k. Alot of shops run the c code but, you can go back with a or b and theyll last especially with studs.

Can you replace the bolts with studs without removing the heads ???
