I am gettin ready to replace the water pump on my truck due to a leak and i just wanted to be sure of one thing before i did it do your need to put any type of sealent on the oring for the water pump to seal properly? Also if you do need a sealent what kind is the best? as always thank you in advance for your help.

 

No sealant...its installed dry.

Don't forget to remove the two nuts securing the radiator shroud in place...it allows the shroud to collapse slightly allowing enough room to pull the pump up through the top of the engine compartment.

Also helps to take the idler pulley off and upper rad hose.

 

well tried to replace the pump today and the new pump leaked more than the old one thanks to autozone selling quality parts, had to put the old one back on till i can get one from cummins everything else went great tho thanks for the help ill just chok today up to practice
