Default Auto High-Idle

Alright I was just driving at operating temperature on a county highway at roughly 60 mph for about 10 minutes. When I pulled into the driveway and put my truck in park I usually let it sit a little bit anyways. But no more then 3-4 minutes after letting it sit auto high-idle kicked in for roughly a minute. Is this a glitch in the system? or is this an effort to cool the engine or the turbo? Just wondering. Thank you.

Also does this truck also have 3 cylinder mode as well?

Auto high idle helps keep the coolant at a certain temperature and to prevent cylinder wash down...if it was above 40*F, you may have another issue causing the truck to think it needs high idle (bad thermostat or temperature sender).

I want to remember the automatic equipped trucks can also be manually put into high idle using the cruise control switches.

I think the 3 cylinder thing is a 2nd gen option...

If it was loping when it went into high idle, start saving $$ for injectors...

Well I tell ya what she wasnt loping so thats good. And how can it be put in high-idle manually? Also as far as the coolant temp goes I will say that when I let it sit for like not even 5 minutes it goes from operating temperature to a 1/4 on the temp gauge... bad thermostat could be possible if shes stuck open. It would probably be one of the cheaper replacements.
