Grease Front Drive Shaft (CV Joint)
'06 2500 4WD
I am trying to grease the front drive shaft CV joint as mentioned in the manual but don't see a grease fitting. How do I get in there?
54K and I have never greased it yet!!!

Thanks Whit, I can't really see anything in there. Seems to be a rubber collar around the center section maybe I'm supposed to just jab a needle attachment up behind that and pack it full...
I think I will drop it down so I can see what's going on in there; I assume that front drive shaft is a spendy assembly.

Front shaft, CV joint coming off the transfer case.

Located directly above the cross member so its hard to see up in there.

spin the driveshaft and see if ya can find a zert in there......it will be right on the U joint itself..........should be
if it aint there then they installed a sealed U joint that doesnt require greesing

Okay thanks Whit. I been looking but can't find one. Every other U-joint is sealed on this truck but the manual and the decal say grease it. Guess I will drop it down just to be sure.
Thanks 94Matt,
You are absolutely correct I was just about to post this for anyone else looking;
I went out to remove the shaft but decided to search one more time. I found the fitting deep in there covered in crud.
I went to NAPA and bought a Lincoln model 5803 Needle Nozzle fitting for my grease gun ($10.99) It fits perfectly.
It took 14 pumps on my mini grease gun handle before seeing grease on the far side; so I imagine it was fairly dry...
Needle nozzle pointing at fitting:
