Default IDP FICM Tuner

Woo hoo! Just ordered a FICM tuner from IDP. Stay tuned, boys and girls, I'll keep you updated on how it all works as far as install, mpg, and whatever else. I should have it installed in time for my 1600 mile trip over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house.

Awesome! Let us know how it works. I installed the one i got from Innovative a month or so ago. It works wonders and increased throttle response tremendously. As far as gas mileage I havent figured it out. Im not to worried about that aspect of the truck.

Good news: I got it loaded up!
Bad news: It's dark outside

The only thing different than an SCT tune load is that the FICM relay has to come out and it has to go back to stock. The IDP instructions were pretty complete. I mean they did everything but push you out of the way and do it for you.

Initial impressions are that there is better low end throttle response. The darkness prevented seeing how thick the cloud was, but matting the throttle from a dig did blow some smoke. I did this with my SRL tune for an more accurate comparison since that's my DD tune.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Stay tuned, Bombers, I will have some mpg results SOON as I am going on an 800 mile road trip next week.

Awesome Karl! Did they give you a choice of what program to put on it?

According to IDP, their moderate tune yeilds the best results on a DD, more so if used with an ECU programmer. They offer a mild, moderate, and race tune. I'll harpoon the tank today, then sometime next week (I'm thinking Wednesday) I'll harpoon the truck again for some in town indications. Next Sat is road trip day.

It doesn't smoke as much and it is not near as thick when it does. Stay tuned, I'll post more info as it comes in.

Yup, throttle response down low is much better. There is a noticable reduction in the "spool up" time when on the go pedal. This thing must have been an f'in SLUG before I did the EGR cooler delete and SCT programming because all 3 mods have improved throttle response. Anyway, I'll post some in town numbers today zand some highway miles tomorrow afternoon.
