2001 silverado HD duramax dies at random
Our 01 duramax has been dying at random for about a year now. After it dies you can start it back up and go. It finally died on me, driving at 60 mph...on the way to the shop. So we loaded it up on the dumptruck/trailer combo and hauled it to electrician. Died coming off of the trailer. Electrician kept the truck for about 2 weeks. He went through all the wiring and could never get it to fail. Called us...said he wasn't sure if he did anything to help the problem and didn't charge us. When we got it back it ran great...no fails for 2 weeks or so...then it started again. Now it seems to do it when we put our truck into reverse and tap the break at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas???
do you have a scanner that can read fuel pressure? may be a bad regulator.
the only other thing that i can think of is a break in a wire that the electrician may have moved enough to make a better connection. this one could be hard to find
any codes, visible or in history?
