Default 03 Duramax no start ?'s

Hi, im new here to diesel bombers and am fairly new to the diesel world. I have an 03 Duramax with 78k and for the last month or so I've had problems starting it when it was hot and cold. So I replaced fuel filter and filter housing and didn't have any luck. If I prime the system it would normally start good for about a week and then get harder and harder to start until eventually it won't start at all.. But now priming it does not help, it will crank and crank but won't fire. At first I thought it was the injectors, but I'm not getting any white smoke and there is no diesel in the oil. So today I got curious and sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it fired right up. ( I know starting fluid is bad for diesels I just tried it once) And I took it for a spin and it seemed to run fine, but as soon as I shut it off it wouldn't start back up. So now I'm thinking injection pump? Could this be a possibility? The dealership can't get me in till next week to check balance rates and get the diagnostics ran. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance.

Had a similar problem. Found a problem with my fuel filter hosing. Bought a rebuild kit for that. In the end it turned out to be the starter. Even though it cranked fine it was not quite enough.

I kind of thought that in the begging too, I think I'm gonna pull it off tomorrow to and get it tested.

It finally dawned on me that it was starting every time right after I gave the batteries a full charge. Engine turned just a tad faster and started. Once the batteries were slightly discharged all it would do is crank.

If it's starting up good after you prime it each time you could be getting air in the fuel lines i had this happen turned out to be the bleeder screw was stripped replaced it with a aftermarket metal one and works great now. Just throwing this out there.
