First off, I am new to diesel bombers so thank you to anyone who is helping me out.

I was having the shuttle shift and hunting problem, typical to the 48re. So undecided to upgrade to the BE 50185 solenoid and replace my sensor as well. Unfortunately I got 2nd and 3rd gear take offs. A problem I did not have before, tranny shop told me to get another solenoid, replaced it again with a Transtar(supposedly same difference). Bought it, installed it and have the same problem. I am definitely in the right groove, and am now looking at the suncoast upgrade(Allison conversion).

When you replace the 1-2 and the 2-3 solenoids, they reflash the PCM w/ that. When you mentioned that you replaced the solenoid, was it for the 1-2 or the 2-3 hunt issue?

 

1-2 was my big issue. But it was giving me problems across the board. I was wondering about the reflash, is that something that has to be done? I can read my TCM codes and it says I have no speed sensor communication. But my solenoid also failed when I ran diagnostic scan. Unfortunately the shop only has the demo version for transmission on our scan tool so I can't reflash myself.
