Default Tranny experts please help

I blew my tranny awhile back will thought I did ending up being a bad pressure sensor but got a rebuild anyway before I realized it was just a sensor. I put the suncoast extreme rebuild kit, ats flex plate, ats 5 star convertor, transgo shift kit and a derale cooler mounted under the bed. What is the normal operating temp of a 48re I've been told by the dealer its around 190-200 degrees seems kinda high to me and others on the forums so they are seeing nothing over 160-170 with the same derale cooler so where is it supposed to run? I can't even drive mine very much in the city cause it get hot around the 200-210 mark and it doesn't stop climbing then its starts acting funny and I have to let it cool off. What could be some causes of it getting that hot? Any help would be much appericated.

does the cooler have a fan on it and are you still using the heat exchanger on the side of the block?

Yes the cooler has a fan and I just by passed the heat exchanger I've heard others doing the same and they only hit about 160 with just the derale cooler and fan.

ok i was just checking to make sure you had bypassed the exchanger since that will cause them to stay around the same temp as the engine and could have explained your problem. i do know of one transmission locally that the guy used the same TC you have and he had all kinds of problems with temp. he finally talked ats into sending him a new TC and since the new TC it has been fine. when they pulled the TC out even after it sat on the bench for like 4 hours while they put the new one in and finished everything the old one was still so hot they couldnt touch it. i'm not saying thats your problem i'm just saying that its possible.

That was my next step is to call ats cause when the temp gets up around 200 the TC doesn't stay locked it locks and unlocks at random
