Default Owning a diesel while in an apartment

So we live in an apartment/quadplex place my wife parks her dd under the covered parking and my truck a 2000 7.3 parks down a little ways by my work van. My question is during the winter here in Utah it gets below freezing and where its parked it won't be able to be plugged in very often and its not a dd what problems am I faceing?

I live in a town house with a garage and a small driveway and then there's on street parking, I also work shift work and it was a pain especially since my glow plugs were shot. It would take 2-5 cranks to get truck to turn over and its not got on starting system. Personally if you know your going to drive it plug it ib a few hours before u do, or cycle the key a few times. You could test your glow plug relay also to make sure it's getting proper voltage. But if you don't plug it in, it'll hurt your batteries, starter etc. From extended cranking

Take the battery out and store it somewhere warm. you can put it on a trickel charger so it will be warm and ready when you need it. Make sure you have the right mix of coolant so it won't freeze. My two cents...

Don't matter if its below zero or 30 to me your truck wont start. Trust me especially if its sat for weeks on end with out being plugged in. When I worked 16 hrs straight and mu truck sat from 3pm til 7am the next morning it would take 10-20 cranks with bad glow plugs and even after I replaced them 1-3 when it was really cold. Not trying to be a **** just trying to help

I have never plugged in my PSD, even below zero it starts fine.

First thing, get your batteries tested and make sure the terminals are clean. It makes a world of difference. Secondly, make sure your glow plugs, UVCH and relay are up to snuff.

A stancor relay and either synthetic or a diesel rated 10w-30 helps as well.

Given the fact this is not a daily driver your biggest issue will be keeping the batteries fresh, a trickle charger (solar or plug in) will help with that.

my buddies OBS 7.3 will not start after it drobs below 30 degreess, honestly if you have an oil pan heater it will help when cranking, because 15-40 doesnt like cold..

If your buddies OBS isn't starting below 30*F then his truck has issues...bad GP relay, bad GPs, old worn injectors, poor fuel pressure (not uncommon with the mechanical LPs on the old 7.3s), something.

A properly functioning HEUI system will have no trouble running in colder climates even with 15w40 in the crank case.

We had replaced the GP and Relay, and motor was supposely reubuilt 6K when he bought it, but yea I know the LP go out quite frequently on em ole OBS but doesnt matter now he got rid of it... Yea 15 40 ok till around 10 degrees, I just recommend a Oil Pan heater makes life nicer...
