thermostat replacement
Hello
recently I was pulling a trailer in PA, raystown lake area.As I was climbing a long mountain road it heated up to 248,I'm guessing it time to replace the t-stat? Are there 2 stats and if so why 2? Does anybody have a illustration on how to replace them.also what is the recommended temp stat?thanks as always

It could be the t-stats. Also the air intake on the lot are blamed for them overheating also. Because the mouthpiece inlet to the turbo is pretty restrictive. A lot of people upgrade to a lbz mouthpiece
the real only proven thing to keep the lly engines from overheating when you push these tucks to thier intended use was the TxChristopher Kit. it included an extra rad. not the killerbee kit.
the thermostats are most likely fine

Thanks i will take a look at the kits. It runs fine on straight roads,188,192 degrees. Its just when i go up in the mountains it goes past 210. My son has as 2004 2500 diesel pulls a bigger boat and it stays right on 210, go figure?
Springer, the turbo mouthpiece is not changed with any of the aftermarket air filter kits that I know of. it is bolted to the turbo under the resinator box. The LBZ or AFE turbo inlet elbow will cure those hill climb temperatures. I bought my AFE from kennedydiesel, it was under $200. I was a little scepticle until I installed it... Not only did my towing temps go way down (under 210* unless I stay in it too long) but, as a nice byproduct my clutch fan doesn't kick on and off constantly when the A/C is on either now.
problem found, the last owner installed heavy rubber flap the covered the shock opening area. This looked great but the engine couldn't breath.I took them both off,now i have the factory opening.I think this should be a but help. thanks for the tips
