you are right. All Diesel fuels (with the exceptin of those Synthetic fuels)contains up to 7% of Biodiesel.
But it is so called RME (Rapsmethylester), which is very aggressive to seals and internal parts.
I do ignore the fact of Biodiesel inside the engine because my engine wasn't build for Bio.( strictly prohibited by the manual)


I don't trust that Bio crap a bit.
I had three or four friends driving that 100%Bio( to save that 60cent per gallon) and it ruined the engine in all cases.
Yes, the burning process is clean and due to high oxygen content in the BioDiesel it seems to release a bit more power. But what about the destroyed pumps and seals?
It seems that nobody thinks about that.

I can't take the risk. A VP 36 is very expensive.
So I take every advantage I can get.
As long as no damage develops I can live with it.
Maybe it's a waste of money. As long I can't proof the opposite I feel better safe than sorry.
Of course there are some nice as already mentioned side effects that I don't want to miss. As there is a clean burning process, soot control, and lower engine noise.

Don't expect to reverse pump wear you already have.
From the data sheets I have seen it cuts wear almost down to zero.

Do you have a DPF?
If not give it a try. A single bottle doesn't hurt your wallet.
And If you don't recognize a difference you can stop at anytime.

All I can say is if my fuel contained 7% Bio I sure would not be wasting my money buying 2 cycle oil.. But if it make you feel better

 

If by your sig, and screen name you have a 98 Ram... you do NOT have a DPF. LoL!

The Antichrist that is the DPF is on all 2007 and later trucks i believe... check it out..

The main difference in europe is the use of colza oil instead of soybean oil.
Colza oil is much more agressive than soybean.

Dodge, you are absolutley right with mentioning the better lubricity of Biodiesel.

Colza oil has a major disadvantage:
The use of "aged" (and it ages real quick- the main reason for it's biodegradable capability) or low quality colza oil leads to corrosion and increased wear of internal major injector pump parts. In a fresh and unaged state(you mentioned it) it lubes much better than pure Diesel.

I hope, this explains my "waiste" of 2-stroke oil a bit.

Thats the reason most german car owners aren't to happy with that fact ( including myself).

 

anybody run 2 stroke on a 7.3L? my buddy runs it in his cummins and loves it. i just bought my 2000 and has 250k on her. so anybody have any suggestions on if it would be a good idea to start now?

 

Wow i suck... posted about an issue that i thought was from running to much 2 stroke... Turned out SOME how with Murphies law timing my ADR pump tap wire came off like at the same time i stopped for that fill up!! I totally blamed the fuel for the issue. Re tapped my wire out of curiosity while playing under the hood... Tap was SUPER loose! Fail
