I thought a 3500 is a one ton, and a 2500 is 3/4 ton.
that's probably true, but now days it is all meaningless numbers. the 2500 can haul well over a ton and that's not even the HD version

I have no experience with Discount but Sams and wal Mart are retarded, the claim best tires HAVE to go on rear so if you buy 2 snow tires for you front wheel drive guess where they are putting them, and you cant specify you want them on front " no thats against company policy" Bullcrap, whatever happened to the customer is always right.

i think this has something to do with breaking. when you have bad tires in the back and good up front, driving over slippery roads, if you slam on the breaks the rear of the vehicle can loose traction and swing around so you are backwards. kind of like balancing a stick in the palm of your hand it wants to fall over (flip around). if the good tires are in the back then it will tend to straiten the vehicle out if the front slips, like holding the stick from the top it just hangs there. at least thats what i have been told (Discount tires).

i still agree walmart is retarded

Not meaningless to DOT......better go by the weight on your door tag.

i was referring to the "1-ton & 3/4 ton" not relating to the weight rating of the truck. they are carryovers form the "old" days

i was kind of thinking the same thing. dont mind too much, guess more people see the MPG improvements in tires then other areas. would like to see more on if anyone has tried lighter weight oil though.

has anyone seen MPG improvements with tonneau covers, gate up/down or off? what about silly things like taping up the seams for better air flow. and last but not least - "galf balling" the surface, anyone see the mythbusters episode on this?

I have tried lighter oil, free spin kit, but the most improvement I have seen is max tire inflation. Tail gate doesn't matter, have not used a cover.

Golf balling- got a bit of hail damage on my rig, doesn't seem to help. Any body try a smooth hub cap/ wheel cover over the drive wheels of a dually? I've seen them on a few semis, the drivers seem to like them.

I am running T5 10w-30 in my 7.3, not quiet apples to apples but no noticeable change in MPG. I ran Amsoil's 10w-30 in my Cummins when I had it and the mpg wasn't any better either...or at least I didn't notice it.
