whats the big difference?
Ok so i have been searching for an hour plus now and i can't seem to find my answer so i guess i will ask a noob question....so here goes
what is the difference between the "normal" diesel fuel i have been putting in my tank
and the #2 diesel i see at some of the pumps at the truck stop?
and why is it cheaper then the "normal" diesel ?

they move more diesel and purchase it in larger quantities so they can get it for less. #2 diesel is #2 diesel. it will probably be cleaner and have less algae, water, junk, etc in the truck stops. the only other difference could be the additives that some suppliers may put in it.
make sure you are not comparing #2 with #1 diesel - summer/winter

they even have the #2 diesel during the summer... back when i first got my truck i was told to stay away from truckstop diesel...was told that the tanks are filled more often then your local gas staiton and that junk in the storage tanks makes the fuel more dirty then at a local gas station where it can settel....from the sounds of things its the oppisite...so if the #2 diesel is no different then normal diesel why do they sell it cheaper...at this time its about 40¢ cheaper....normal diesel is 3.99 and the #2 is around 3.55...just wondering why they sell both?

so i stoped in and asked the attenedent at the truck stop why the different cost in
fuel prices between the 2 diesel fuels and he said ...do you have a DOT number?
i said no
he told me then i would have to pay the price of the other fuel....theres no differance only tax exempt...same fuel as all the other pumps.....that would have sucked if i put 20 bucks in the tank and then had to pay the extra and not had it !!

That is not true in NM. We actually pay the "cash"(with credit card) price which is 5 cents lower than the credit price for big rigs and the same price they pay with cash.
