Default Injector pumps and Micron filtering

is there anybody here that rebuilds Injector pumps for the 1994 7.3 IDI or knows up to what microns they can pass without doing damage ? , im having injector pump issues again, the first time was because the when Joel Woolf from veg powered systems installed my system he cut my steel fuel lines with a hack saw or something and I am not a injector pump expert but I BELIEVE the metal shavings got injested up to the pump and broke the shaft at the weak point breaking the pump. I got the pump rebuilt but it seemed to have no power even after the rebuild Im STUMPED ! now the pump was the issue again and I think it is because Veg Powered Systems only uses one filter Racor Filter with the glass sediment bowl and ONLY A 30 MICRON FILTER was what I found when I changed. So could anybody tell me what is the best micron level to filter my oil to ? what works best on these pumps because I heard some pumps have a screen in them and maybe the screen is plugged up. what micron is diesel fuel filtered to ?

I would really like to know more about the system you're currently running, IE, how is the oil heated. Are you purging your oil out of the pump after you run WVO? You're probably unknowingly killing your own pump. Most of the guys who have the IDI's and the earlier powerstrokes convert to the electric superduty pumps to avoid these issues. I don't think those pumps can really handle WVO very well, they were never made to pump that kind of viscosity.

I would also like to know a lot more about your filtering methods.

If I have anything negative to say, please take it as constructive criticism. I would like to learn more about your setups though to help figure this issue out.

Not sure where you are located.... onthe map but ....909-225-4298 out of desparation.

The oil is being heated with an in tank heat exchanger but due to the deterioration of the relationship with VEG POWERED SYSTEMS I dont know anything about this system, he basically said your system is in , the truck wont start but come pick it up, pay us the $ 3,100.00 then your not welcome here anymore....Come Feb when we go to small claims I can ask the judge to order him to disclose whther or not the tankl has baffles...how many plates are the heat exchanger....and how far the pick up tube goes down into the tank because even when the systm worked it died at half a tank of fuel. I also found a 30 micron filter in the RACOR 500 or 5000, which I hear anything over 10 microns is asking for trouble....so I will refilter all my 300 gal down to 1 micron once the filters come in the mail. I dont heat and filter and I use gravity socks.

I don't see why it can not. You're basically taking your mechanical pump and bypassing it with the superduties electric setup. There are quite a few guys who have done this recently with their 94-97 powerstrokes. Sign up on WVO Diesel Conversion | SVO Grease Conversion | Ford Vegistroke Powerstroke | Biodiesel Conversion it is the vegistroke site. Go on there, explain your story, and tell them you're looking for info to convert your truck to the superduty electrical setup, you will have quite a few responses before the end of the night I bet. You can read in the 94-97 powerstroke sections as well and see what others have done.

I'd give you a call myself, but I honestly just don't know what's involved. That info is on the BFT site though for sure.

There is also a ton of info on filtering there as well. We have a few guys on there with DIY systems, so you are more than welcome to join and learn over there brother. Tell em Mdub707 sent you over.
