Yeah I have read as well that ATF is NOT made to burn like 2-cycle oil is. I guess that is why I have never thought about using it in my diesel fuel either.

In the old days that was what all the old farmers used in the big trucks and diesel tractors but ATF today isn't what it was back then. I haven't seen straight ATF, no additives included in 20 plus years. These guys are just listening to the has been news.

What advantage does adding 2 stroke oil have?

Some people are of the mindset that it adds an additional level of lubricity protection for the injection pump.

Some ford guys run on almost straight ATF. How is that possible? Maybe they are not honest to admit their repairs.

Like Dennis said, there hasnt been a "straight" ATF for over 20 years. Those who are burning ATF in their fuel will pay the price later.

i was talking to this one guy around where i work at, he says he has a buddy who runs half and half atf in his 6.7.

And he also tops off his filter with atf every time he changes it. I warned him and told him to switch to 2-stroke at least. i guess ill see what happens real soon.

maybe it's the heui injectors? The 7.3 injectors are pretty tough. I don't have a clue when it comes to alt. fuels, just throwing something out there.
