Opti-Lube XPD
#3
I have been using the Opti-Lube XPD in my truck for several months. I am very pleased with the product. I have a much quieter engine, less rattle. I am also seeing a gain in fuel mpg's. I saw a couple mpg's the first tank at 1/2 oz to 1 gal ratio. I have continued with that ratio for several tankfuls, mostly because it is winter and colder temperatures and the XPD is the most suitable to be using at this time. I plan to use their summer formula when the temperatures rise and it becomes applicable for use. Again, I am very satisfied with their XPD product, it has lived up to their promotional claims and the independent testing results.

I purchased a gallon of the stuff but haven't used it. After I placed my order, I found the MDS sheet on the XPD and didn't like what I saw. I'm not a chemist, but I didn't see anything in the product that would explain its' excellent HFRR score on the diesel place fuel additive study. According to the Opti-Lube XPD MDS sheet, 52% to 63% (perct. by wt.) of the product is petroleum naptha. From what I've read, this chemical is primarily used as a solvent, not a lubricant. Of course there are a number of other chemicals in much smaller quantities, some of which might explain the lubricity. Obviously there's something in it. However, I'm going to wait awhile before I put any into my truck. Besides, @$49.40 for a gallon (includes s/h), it's not cheap.
