Default WMO/WEO in a 24 Valve Cummins 98.5-02?

Is anyone running Waste Motor Oil/Waste Engine Oil in your 24 Valve 2nd Gen Dodge Cummins 98.5-02?
What is your filter set up before you put it in the tank? I'm thinking of using engine oil filters to process the oil.
Performance results?
Mix ratios?

Jegs has a filter head for $20 that can use engine oil filters.

I used a gallon of new oil I had sitting around in a full tank. I cannot tell a difference in performance. I did notice a little smoke at WOT, I could only see it at night in the head lights of the car behind me.

I wouldn't run waste motor oil in a VP44 Cummins. The VP44s are so sensitive to lubrication and the tolerances are so tight. One little micron could damage it and you'll never be able to filter all of the impurities out. I would run 2 stroke oil. If it was an older VE or P7100 cummins, i would say go ahead.

You don't think the fuel filter will catch what gets past a filter treatment of the WMO?

The fuel filters don't filter down as much as you think. But thats because they just expect you to be running clean fuel and not dirty fuel. So dirty engine oil is going to have a lot more contaminants in it than dirty fuel. There's always going to be tiny metal shavings, and just other junk that will make it through. Thats why they don't just keep recycling oil over and over and because it breaks down too.

Plus oil filters dont even filter down low enough on average and if they do you need to take into account their efficinecy rating. If a oil filter can take it down to 1 micron but is 80% efficient then that leaves 20% for particles that could be over 1 micron. It may not be much larger then 1 micron but why risk it. Maybe a few passes through a centerfuge? I heard they can go sub-micron.

Are you just doing it to save money? Or for lube?

Yes to both, I've got the oil from oil changes so I know nothing else is mixed with it.
