I don't get mine at the busted knuckle garage - I get it from reputable sources and never (as in NEVER!!) let my draw pipe get closer than 3 inches off the bottom of their containers......hence no water and no junk.

No one has to "educate" me on anything about running oil in my truck. I've been slammed on more than one forum for doing it and I'm glad I have been because as long as people don't believe in it my sources won't dry up!!!!!

You do your thing, I'll do mine

I just ran my second tank of used motor oil and diesel (aka black diesel). I ran 10 gallons of used motor with 20 gallons of diesel and my truck ran great and I even had an increase of 1.6 mpg acording to the trip computer. My second tank was a 50/50 mix and boy did it smoke. For my first tank I used a known source of oil from my co-worker. Second tank oil was taken from a 500 gallon drum at an auto hobby shop on a Navy base. I'm not sure if a 50/50 mix is to much or the quality of the oil I got on base is making the smoke but I'm wondering if I'm running the risk of carbon buildup on the valves and such with such a large amount of smoke plus my wife hates it. What mix are you guys running and how bad is the exhause? I'm going to look for a new source of used oil because there is no telling what's in that drum. Anybody got and pointers for used oil sources and how to approach the subject?

Wherein the best place to get used oil. I've been interested in this for the longest and would someone mind posting pics of their filtering setup?

I bought my setup from blackdieselchief on ebay. I cost about $150 but it was turn key so I think it was worth it. The big thing is water seperation and filtering down to .5 microns. The filter setup he sold me is 100,30,10,.5 microns. I'm also runing a airdog with a 2 mic fliter.

Hey Paxlaser....Seen your post on waste motor oil filtering......tried to look up the guy you bought your kit from on ebay and could not find him. Do you have any more info on where you got the kit from or how to get ahold of the guy?? Thanks, Chic,

One had about 15 gal through it, but the injectors were in it when I bought it, and it never had any power(I bought it with a bad trans, so couldn't realy test drive it). A set of clean used injectors seemed to make a hugh difference. The other had a rebuilt set and about 40 gal of W80, and they were coked up pretty bad IMO. I just carefull scraped the carbon off , pop tested them and put them back. I am beginning to think 50/50 may be better in the long run. Pulling and cleaning the injectors is no real big job, but I think doing it every 600-700 miles is a bit much. Any advice on the best way to clean the injectors as well as keeping the clean will be appreciated. The tank of oil was burned in mainly town driving which included some freeway at about 60, some traffic etc.Maybe a long trip on the highway will make a difference also.
I too own a 6.2L Detroit Diesel engine. It is naturally aspirated, and I have been burning waste oil-gasoline blends in it for more than 6 years. WVO-gasoline blends at 80-20 run fine on my engine; however, WMO blends, even below 20% WMO, still cause my injectors to coke; however, the less WMO I put in, the longer it takes for my injectors to coke. At 20% it took 3 months for them to coke.

There is a long thread on this forum of owners of 6.2L DD engines trying to burn WMO. Those who have no problem had turbochargers. Those who had nothing but trouble did not have a turbo.

biggest "issue" with a 12 valve is viscosity... getting it thin enough for the mechanical pump to pick it up from the tank to the 7100 pump.... (and smoke if your fuel plate has been messed with... preboost is the worst with a tweaked fuel plate )

I have ran upwards of 60-70% on a 7100 12 valve with a airdog 165 fuel pump

make the investment and get yourself a centrifuge... gravity fed... worth their weight in silver (gold is just out the roof these days... )

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Oh Yea! first thing to do... pop the fuel inlet line off your mechanical fuel pump (not just the line... the nipple that screws into the pump) and pull the mesh screen off and chunk it!
