I worked for a trucking company for about three months between deployments back in 2004, and they used 1 gallon of isopropyl alcohol (GASP!) per 150 gallon tank of #2. The lead mechanic said they have done this for 20+ years and no injector pump failures to date. If pure alcohol won't hurt an injector pump, a little gasoline surely wont! These guys were cheap and each truck saw over a million miles before being traded. And yes, I'm also a certified class 8 mechanic. I think the main point to this whole thing is if it accidentally happens, don't panic, and don't go to the dealer to get bent over. Use rational decision making skills (most of us have these) to determine what course of action you need to take.

Good post Gbodman! That's pretty much what I said. As for an accidental mixing, in small quantities, it will be fine. Love the series 60's!

The series 60's were nice to work on but I have a real soft spot for the two stroke screamers! Long live the 71's and 92's!

A guy I know who used to work for Detroit has a 53 Chevy p-up on a newer 1 ton Chevy frame. He put in a 6v71 and Allison from a grain truck. It sounds bad *** screaming down the road!

I read somewhere not too long ago that 30% wouldnt hurt anything for just one tank, but I wouldnt do it on any of the new ones. When I did the conversion I still had probably one or two gallons of gas left in the tank, and filled up the rest with diesel (its like a 15 or 16 gallon tank), and not a problem.

wow what a topic I would say I agree with parts of all
1 diesels are not designed to run on gasoline
2 a small quantity of gas will not hurt no more than 2 gal I would say
3 I have to agree if you fill it up drain as much out fill it up and go
4 the guys that are running black diesel use unleaded to thin it down
5 we have used gas for a anti gel up here in the north for years
6 lets relax just a bit on this always check the hose before fueling and you will not have problems use the same stations so you know where you get your fuel and buy clean fuel and keep it clean
7 I have been running diesels since the early 80's and I have not done this I have added gas in the winter to keep it from gelling

As a newbie to this site I want to say thank you to everyone on it about not argueing, but discussing their view point and not wearing their heart on their sleeve. I belong to a lot of forums due to all the vehicles I own and work on, but never have I seen 4 pages of discussion that provided information and opinion like this.
