And to think I was mad as hell today when i had to pay $3.40 a gallon. That's the highest I've ever paid. I can't afford mylife anymore with all this fuel crap goin on.

Oil prices are goin up, so diesel is goin up. Diesel is goin up so bio diesel made from corn is the new big thing. So now all my horse and cattle grain is goin up. The price of corn is goin up so now all the farmers are tillin up the hay fields and plantin corn. The 1500 pound round bales that I paid $22 for 2 years ago are now $65 and up when you can find em. I buy em 20 and 30 at a time when I do cause they're hard to come by.

Talk about a vicious circle here and I'm the pivot man.

Sure do. And they try to find new excuses for it every single year! - Same thing during holiday season every year though.....

Man I am about to make a ~2500 mile drive, and I am not looking forward to the further west I go, as fuel here is 3.27 or so a gallon, I have heard reports back in CA that it is anywhere from 3.40-3.60. Knowing this I would assume that further west I travel it will slowly be going up and up.

I am really wanting to get into either the WVO scene or producing my own bio diesel/blends once I return home. Seeing as how both myself AND my father could benefit (and some of his friends as well) from this, I do not see any reason as to why not. I do forsee diesel being $4/gal in southern CA(and heck, even other parts of country) by the end of the year. This is insane.

Sorry to hijack thread, just wanted to throw out my $.02 on the topic.

Oh, and Ram Archer, sucks that your fuel costs so much more there... And I am sure you see the same kind of mileage we do on our trucks that have similar modifications-

First post here...just want to add to the discussion some on the SVO/WVO.
There is actually quite a number of 5.9L Cummins running on SVO in Germany...just not in Dodge trucks ! Since you will find that motor also in DAF trucks, construction equipment etc. I do know a few installations exist.
As far as heating SVO and needing an additional tank....not needed if you are using some advanced systems.
My truck for instance is running on 100% SVO all the time even at temps as low as -5°C (has not been colder to test....) and no my truck is not an ancient dinosaur with a P7100 or the like....it is a Bosch Common Rail.

In Germany there is quite a number (several thousend per year) of newly registered semi trucks that come with SVO systems installed by the dealers and factory warranty.

As far as VP44 and SVO is concerned....I have mixed feelings as there is a design flaw in these pumps that will show a lot earlier when running on SVO as compared to #2. Not sure if the hot versions of that pump will work any better, would have to look into that.

What types of advanced systems are you referring too? I'm not trying to question your source, I'm just really interested. My brother is running a 1977 300D that we are getting ready to convert to WVO system. My dad is also interested in the possibilities of running his 2000 F-250 on WVO. I'm running an 06 cummins, but am happy for now with bio-d. I would really like to find out someplace I could look at different setups.
