I would like to find out more about buying a ready made reactor or processor for biofuels. give me the pros and cons about them. Bare in mind that I live in Florida and it rarely gets down below freezing. But I do get down there every now and then. Also could I get some ideas on what blend to run in my truck (91) and dad's (2004)? I appreciate this very much so.

I'll have some pics of a well built system in a couple of weeks. A 250 gallon high pressure reactor and 24 3/4 ball valves later it's getting close to completion.

24 valves sounds a bit excesive even on a 250 gallon system, my 200 gallon cone hopper processor only has 8 valves, I wouldnt mind seeing pics of your setup

One of the national farm news papers , a friend showed me a couple stories , one about bio & the 2nd about some farmers making a processor for about $750 , looks to be the best price I've seen so far for a turn key unit .
Sorry no link , that was the only time I've seen that paper .
Found it .

yes it's expensive but here's an auto bio diesel brewing system...

if you really wanna learn about it i've done all the research on it before... and for those who live on the farm... making biodiesel it even easier... just dedicate a few acres to an oil seed

Here are some links that I have come across in my quest to make my own machine -- this will likely happen around spring of next year as fuel prices just are too high!

Also, 2001shtbed -- you might check into the usage of bio in your '91 truck. I think the rubber seals in trucks around that year are of the type that biodiesel will destroy - as for your dad's '04, he would be fine!

I look at it this way... Either I spend $800 on making my own processor and buying the chemicals and things necessary to make my own processor, or spend $1700 + for a Vegistroke type of system and modify my truck. Also, you have to collect the vegi oil no matter which system you use and should also have a way of filtering/drying the vegi (CHenry can better explain this part) before you can run it in your vehicle - so why not add another few steps and not have to modify your truck?

Just think about how much diesel these trucks hold -

30 gal of #2 @ $3.35/gal = $100 per tank
30 gal of Bio @ $1.00/gal = $30 per tank (and some of your time)

You save at least $70/tank -- thats only 12 tanks filled with bio fuel, and the system has paid for itself.

Just some things to ponder!

I have b20 in the tank right now & it was 18f yesterday, about 8f today with no gelling. I am curiuos about the film you guys are talking about though. With a b20 mix I wouldn't think I would get a film since there is ULSD in there, at least 80% anyway. The film is more of a 100% mix right?

The film/wax thing [ being that it hasn't been defined here ] could be that using bio-diesel can clean [ film ] out of a system that has been running petro diesel .
And then as stated earlier , if those making the bio , do a bad job [ I know someone that builds commercial around the world ] and he will tell me about some of the owners & there attitude / or lack of making quality bio .
Then there is the confusion of many talking about alternative fuel & not knowing much about them yet [ confusing bio - wvo - svo - wmo ] .
I have been running commercial bio for a few yrs , and have been looking at a lot of studies , forums ect , for a couple yrs before using , now myself & others are putting together a processor .
From all of this , I do not bother to look at the use of WVO [ except to make bio from ] as a fuel , many bad stories , long term & back up with studies & shops doing tear downs , there are believers out there , I'm not here to change there religion , just answer ?s , if it could be proven to use WVO , then I would do it in a heart beat .
